What's next after the Exercises?
If you have prayed the Ignatian Exercises and want to continue your Ignatian journey, we invite you to explore and go deeper here with us.
Many people want to continue their Ignatian journey after completing the Exercises. However, there are currently limited resources to support this longer path. The Ignatian Center aims to change that by providing opportunities such as the following:
-
If you haven't yet prayed with Dale Gish’s book Beloved: A Journey of Prayer, we encourage you to consider it. The book follows the Ignatian prayer structure and provides a rich experience of God's boundless love.
-
We are currently developing prayer resources to help you structure your prayer times and continue praying in the Ignatian way after completing the Exercises. Dale Gish is working on an Ignatian prayer journey with the Holy Spirit, and an Ignatian Advent journey is underway.
-
The Ignatian Center will host monthly online gatherings, including teachings on Ignatian spirituality and invitations for deeper Ignatian prayer. For more information, please visit our upcoming events page, and to stay informed about upcoming events, sign up for our email list.
-
Check out our resources page for additional prayer invitations and Ignatian resources.
-
If you don’t have an Ignatian-trained spiritual director, consider monthly spiritual direction with one of our Ignatian directors (insert link). An Ignatian spiritual director can help you discern the next steps in your Ignatian journey.
-
Consider praying the Ignatian Exercises again. Many people who go on a longer Ignatian journey find great value in praying through the Exercises again with one of our spiritual directors. A first journey through the Exercises only scratches the surface of the riches there for you. Now that you are at a different point on your journey, God has new things to share with you. He wants to shower you with even more love and grace.
-
Consider participating in an in-person Ignatian retreat. The Ignatian Center plans to offer several Ignatian retreats per year. Check the upcoming events page for more information and sign up for our email list for information about upcoming retreats.
-
We partner with other organizations that offer Ignatian marriage retreats for couples, e.g. Cana USA and Curate. This could be a wonderful way to continue your Ignatian journey as a married couple.
-
Has God given you a desire to share the Ignatian Exercises with others? If so, consider The Ignatian Center’s Ignatian training. Leading others through the Exercises is a wonderful way to go deeper yourself.
-
We recommend this resource, Continuing the Graces of the Exercises, which offers these and other thoughts and perspectives.
