Typically, the journey lasts approximately 9 months, starting in September and ending in May. We encourage you to find a director by July or August to lead you through the Ignatian Exercises. Directors fill up and will want to discern with you regarding readiness and whether you might work well together. In addition, praying through Dale Gish’s book Beloved: A Journey of Prayer is a wonderful preparation for the exercises and your director can help guide you through the book. If September is months away, consider starting spiritual direction with the director now to prepare.
The Ignatian Center offers online information sessions each year, for those considering praying the Exercises. In these sessions, we orient you to the journey, tell you a bit of Ignatius’s story, give you all the practical details, and answer your questions. In addition, these sessions expose you to some of our directors. Sign up for our email list to be notified of upcoming opportunities.
